The main
dashboard displays your spend, savings, and key budgets. Use this
dashboard to evaluate your overall Coupa spend.
When looking at
the spend portlet and the forecast algorithm, you can ask yourself if
there are trends in our spend that I should review? You can use the Forecast feature to gain key insights into what your predicted spend will look like 6 months into the future. That data will help you better understand how well you have planned for the upcoming fiscal year(s). Keeping tabs on your spend levels during the month, is also important for organizations with very tight margins, you can utilize the spend alerts to be proactively notified when spend across the organization hits a certain threshold.

The budget
portlet shows you a list of key budgets and the performance relative to
the budget overall. Setting up budgets is a common way to better control your spend by providing visibility to your users on where they stand within their budget at any point in time. Not only do you have access to the budget information in the dashboard, but it's available on the home page when you login to Coupa and you are the budget owner, but also whenever someone is creating a requisition, we will show you the remaining budget. Budgets are a powerful way to keep control of overruns and hold business owners accountable. Just like with the spend portlet, you can also set up alerts to proactively notify specific users when the budget has hit a specific threshold.
